Cook and Prep Cook (Part-Time)

Are you passionate about food? We are looking for a cook and prep cook who can prepare and serve nutritional meals according to the selected menu, monitor food handling, clean equipment, and has the ability to follow directions and dietary orders.

Driver (Part-Time)

We are looking for a responsible driver/chauffeur for our residents. You will represent our company in a professional manner aiming increasing customer satisfaction. You will also be responsible for the delivery of items between campuses as required.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Deliver a wide variety of items to different addresses and through different routes
  • Chauffeur residents to and from appointments
  • Maintain a schedule of drives and deliveries
  • Follow route and time schedule
  • Load, unload, prepare, inspect and operate vehicle
  • Complete logs and reports
  • Follow Ontario ministry of transport regulations and safety standards

We are looking for Personal Support Workers who have their current PSW Certificate, availability to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team, well-developed interpersonal skills, excellent organizational skills, effective problem-solving and conflict management skills, ability to work well within a changing environment, demonstrated appreciation for customer service, and current CPR certificate.

Registered Practical Nurse (Casual and Part-Time)

Unregulated Care Provider (Casual)

We are looking for a UCP to provide medication distribution, personal care, housekeeping, and laundry services for seniors in our Promenade retirement community. He/she will possess current CPR and will be able to work various shifts (days, evenings, nights and weekends).

Qualifications: UCP certification, current criminal record check and vulnerable sector search.

Part Time Activity Aide

Job Description: Performs duties involving the implementation and planning of events and activities with direction from the Recreation Manager, which meet physical, mental and psycho-social needs and interests of the residents.

Duties and Responsibilities: The employee is required to be able to perform the essential functions of the job with minimal supervision. The following functions are considered essential to this position:

  • Responsible for the planning and implementation of activities that meet resident’s specific needs, including large groups, small groups, and individual participation.
  • Maintain documentation as required by RHRA regulations
  • Assist with Resident activity assessments and evaluations.
  • Tend the Bar during Happy Hour
  • Lead group fitness classes.
  • Escort Residents on outings when needed
  • Front Desk coverage.
  • Will be expected to participate in Department in-service training.

Qualifications Required:

  • Great organizational, communication and social skills while displaying a pleasant and mature personality.
  • Must have previous experience planning and implementing activities for seniors.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Diploma in Recreation & Leisure Services or equivalent.
  • Must be able to move furniture and lift 40lbs.
  • Must be able to work independently and with limited supervision as well as being able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must having dementia training and/or experience working with individuals who have dementia

Total of 15.5 hours bi-weekly with the possibility to pick up extra hours

Concierge Manager

Under the direction of the General Manager the Concierge Manager is responsible for environmental operations that include housekeeping, laundry, janitorial, environmental and maintenance services as well as health and safety concerns, particularly those related to corporate and legislative policies. The Concierge Manager hires, manages, supervises and directs the work of the housekeeping, laundry, janitorial and maintenance associates.

The Concierge manager also ensures a smooth transition when new Residents move into the community.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the General Manager and in conjunction with Alavida Managers and associates, the Concierge Manager:

  • Ensures Residents’ rooms are prepared and impeccable for new admissions (permanent or short term).
  • On move-in day, welcomes new Residents personally, escorts them to their suite and completes any unfinished paperwork, copying all departments with Admission Summary; schedules a time to provide them with an orientation tour, introduces them to all department heads and familiarizes them with the functions of the residence and answers any questions they may have.
  • Sees new Residents daily for the first few days to ensure satisfaction and comfort, and acts as the first point of contact for Residents and their families in the community (ensures referrals to other departments and management colleagues as appropriate). Initiates and establishes ongoing communication with Residents.
  • Assists colleagues in the planning, coordinating and executing of large family gatherings, celebrations and open houses, activities and outings.
  • Hires, manages and supervises and directs the scheduling and activities of housekeeping, laundry, maintenance and janitorial staff.
  • Works with all other departments to ensure that the facility is clean and that all tours get the best possible impression, i.e. walk the halls daily to ensure cleanliness, odour free, overall maintenance, and reports any concerns to appropriate department.
  • Conducts tours of the facilities when the Resident Relations Manager and General Manager are unavailable and answers marketing telephone inquiries in their absence. Where pertinent completes leasing processes as part of customer care.
  • Updates, contributes to and assists with suite reservations report
  • Leads workplace health and safety committee initiatives and contributes to corporate and legislative policies related to health and safety (i.e. infection control), as required.
  • Is aware of, respects and promotes the Residents’ Bill of Rights.
  • Performs other related duties as requested.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education preferred
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Three years’ experience working in a maintenance role in a Retirement Community setting
  • Some training in repair trades such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC etc. Knowledgeable about the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Retirement Homes Act
  • Experience in customer service within the retirement industry or other customer-focused industry.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • A valid security/police check.
  • Excellent communication skills. Proficient speaking, reading, and writing in English, and following oral and written directions.
  • High degree of interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to be compassionate, empathetic and patient. Must have the personality, ability and temperament to work in a manner that will maintain the spirit, dignity and individuality of each resident and work cooperatively with other associates
  • Must be a competent person as defined by the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to deal effectively with prolonged, concentrated times of administrative office duties in relation to reports and documentation. Must be able to deal effectively with problem solving situations, and make judgment decisions.
  • Lifting alone, maximum 40 lbs. (5-29 lbs. usual), as an essential job function.
  • Lifting with assistance, maximum 150 lbs. (100 – 125 lbs. usual) as a non-essential job function.
  • Pushing/pulling, maximum 160 lbs., (100 – 125 lbs. usual) as a non-essential activity
  • Walking, with some upstairs walking, as an essential job function.

Sales & Marketing Manager

Reporting to the Executive Director of the retirement residence and collaborating with both the residence leadership and corporate marketing teams you will be responsible for sales and marketing strategies to drive revenue and meet or exceed specific occupancy goals.

Your warm personality, empathetic outlook and communication / listening skills will provide prospects with an unforgettable experience.

In today’s competitive market, building relationships with clients using innovative, consistent, follow-up techniques is key.
You will be responsible for:

      • Calling and qualifying prospects using relationship-selling techniques
      • Generating referrals by ongoing development and nurturing of strong partnerships with community and industry professionals
      • Conducting personal home visits
      • Creating and executing events to strengthen relationships with existing prospects and generating new leads
      • Managing all inquiries and walk-ins to convert to personal visits
      • Maintaining a relationship database to track and record all activities
      • Having a clear understanding of your competitor offerings in an environment of constant change; a firm grasp of market trends
      • Conducting tours using discovery tools and techniques
      • Managing the sales process by assisting prospective residents, their family members, and/or advisors in the decision-making process by understanding their needs and educating them about the community’s services and programs
      • Preparing agreements and maintaining pertinent records

The ideal candidate will possess:

      • A desire to make a difference in the lives of seniors, and a commitment to meet the needs of our clients
      • University or college degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a service industry position such as healthcare, tourism, hospitality, fundraising, property management
      • Minimum 2 years’ direct sales experience with proven success, preferably in seniors housing industry.
      • Experience in the development and execution of sales & marketing strategies
      • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
      • Entrepreneurial and goal oriented by nature
      • Proactive, self-disciplined and able to demonstrate a high level of effective sales productivity
      • Excellent interpersonal skills to deal successfully with clients, community and agency contacts

      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
      • Flexibility in working weekend and evening hours to meet client and Residence needs
